Healthy meal implies Healthy Children

Project Overview

Good health is a key to Good education and self nurture of children. Good health is dependent on healthy and balance diet which is dream for underprivileged children. Most children face malnutrition, so our very first aim is to raise awareness about the benefits of education and healthy meals. By keeping this in mind, Sakshi runs several programs with the twin goals to prevent disease and provide access to meals. Improving the health of children and mothers is a primary focus.

Programs include ensuring the meals for underprivileged children in our centres, educating mothers about nutrition and family planning and holding community health and nutrition camps.

We are providing 4700 meals daily to children of economically deprived communities who attend SAKSHI Centers. In addition, we provide 700 breakfasts to children from Aanganwadi and baalwadi.

Why do we do this?

  • Prevent parents from pushing children into child labour.
  • Healthy body and healthy mind are both important for holistic growth.
  • We are committed to children in our care & pursue sustainable education.

Some of Sakshi’s children are likely to drop out of education in-spite of our and teachers best efforts. We constantly try to make parents understand about education and nourishment but in lack of proper meal they don’t send their kids for education. So we have started programmes like mid day meals for slum children to give them better physique development. Under this meal for slum children programme, Sakshi NGO addresses the basic nourishment need of underprivileged children.
