Sakshi ensures childcare – health, nutrition, early learning and care for newborn babies to 12 year old children living at the construction sites of Delhi and Gurgaon (NCR). The goal is to persuade construction companies to institutionalise ‘creches at all sites’ as policy, capacitate other organisations to run childcare facilities at a workplace or in a neighbourhood, and strengthen the state system. Sakshi takes full responsibility to set up and manage the working hours from 9-5, 6 days/week crèche programme, with trained staff and team members.
This is the 3rd year of the programme managed and supervised by Sakshi, and the project has been operational in two construction sites of Gurgaon. The program is supported and guided by Mobile Crèches. Sakshi has run childcare centres for mothers who work as labourers on construction sites and water pickers. All our teachers, helpers and supervisors are trained, and they nurture and shower love and affection on every child equally.
Sakshi has been managing and supervising mobile day care centre & Creche at constructional sites at Gurgaon for 3 consecutive years. Most of the construction workers are contractual laborers from nearby states or cities and are here on a temporary basis. In the plight for survival, focus towards child development and education is negligible and safety is often ignored. The young children living at construction sites often suffer from malnutrition, under- nourishment, accidents, and innumerable health problems. Elder children of construction workers often have to take care of their younger siblings while their parents are at work and this result in them being out of school.
Mobile Creches for Working Mother’s Children
Sakshi NGO runs the Mobile Creches for the children of mother labourers’ children at Construction Sites for affordable childcare of marginalized children. We provide quality childcare for the poorest families in India. We believe that we can bring a meaningful change to the lives of children by supporting their families. In our experience, parents of children from underprivileged families give up as parents can either not afford child care or food.
Need of Creches and Child Care Facility
A crèche, daycare or nursery is a childcare Centre where babies, toddlers, and young children are cared for in a safe and stimulating environment. Crèches mostly cater to the children of parents with full-time or part-time jobs. With the increase in the number of nuclear families and working parents, crèches and daycare centres are being used by many parents.

Day Care Creche for Child care
In India, many women work in the informal sector to run their families, and they have to leave their homes in the early morning for more than 8-10 hours. Such women leave their kids unprotected with their younger daughters or carry them with them to work. This situation leads to many problems, such as theft of kids, malnutrition, the burden on the young girl child to take care of her siblings, and leaving her studies. To give a solution to all such issues, a vision of a Child care facility came into the light, where child-friendly sites are established to keep children safe, healthy, and educated. The environment enables them to enjoy their childhood. The Mobile Creches come up with a healthy Meal for the underprivileged program to provide the right nutrients to every kid for their growth and well-being.
The Solution- Creche Programme for Children
The objective of our Creche program is to support childcare in the initial stage for working labourer mothers at construction sites or earning anywhere for daily wages. In a day care creche, their children are taken care of for early childhood development, and creche workers or volunteers focus on their health, nutrition, learning, care, and protection. We also focus on sending them to primary schools after a certain age and enrolling them for admission under the Educate Underprivileged Children program.
This initiative helped in early childhood care and development for kids living in harsh circumstances. Under this program, we also provide training to community women and workers to make them aware of child issues and how to run creches.
