NGO in Delhi working to Empower Women
Women are the backbone of society and the foundation of families to take care of everyone and support them. But what about her rights and stability? There are many communities where women feel insecure and poor which needs to empower women through various aids and make them self-reliant and confident to make self-decision. We therefore work in different fields to support them on their journey with a focus on three key areas- education, skills, and security. To provide the best social support, we run programs such as legal counselling, Mahila Panchayat, Vocational training, and Mobile helpline. At vocational training centres in Delhi, basic Computer application and basic literacy programs are taught.
Mahila Panchayat
Our Mahila Panchayat program is backed by the Delhi Commission for Women which provides a valuable support system for women of underprivileged or marginalized communities. Our team of Mahila Panchayat have counsellors and one coordinator who are trained in different laws related to women. They handle the cases and provide counselling under the guidance of Sakshi and the Delhi Commission for Women.
We also organize many awareness camps to educate women through street plays, and movies and prepare them to fight against evil practices in society such as domestic violence, alcoholism, gender inequality, female foeticide, dowry system, ban on girl education, child marriage etc. To support and make women strong, we run Girl Child Empowerment Programmes and support their education, meal and skill training.
Mobile Helpline for Women
Since 2015, we have run a Mobile helpline for women in distress with support from the Delhi Commission for Women, Govt of Delhi. We cover 29 Police districts of Delhi. 181 Women Helpline (WHL) is a 24-hour confidential service for women and child survivors or victims of any form of violence. This is a multi-channel helpline available through dialling 181, email and online chatting which are free and confidential. These calls are answered for Domestic violence, quarrels, sexual assault, dowry violence, child sexual assault, health-related concerns, stalking, rescue operations, missing and kidnapping. Based on the urgency, Police and DCW Mahila Help Line (MHL) counsellors are sent to the victim or complainant. All cases received are immediately answered and brought to a resolution for the victim, including rendering help with medical aid, legal aid, Counselling, and shelter if necessary.
Legal Aid and Counselling for Women
Every woman has the right to seek legal aid to raise their voice. To make them empowered and more aware, we offer access to legal counselling to women to fight against domestic violence, abuse, or cheating. With low levels of literacy rates, many women are unaware of their legal rights and Government social welfare schemes. With legal help, women can know about women and child welfare programmes to safeguard themselves and their children. This comprehensive way ensures legal support is accessible to needy persons without the burden of legal fees. We also give training to fight against sexual harassment at the Workplace and how to keep them safe by raising voices on time.
